MALE SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION

Psychosexual Nurse Specialist

WHAT IS MALE SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION?

Male sexual dysfunction can affect men of any age and may occur on its own or alongside other sexual difficulties. These issues can result from physical, psychological, or a combination of factors.

Common physical causes include diabetes, heart disease, hormonal imbalances, neurological conditions, or side effects of medications.

Psychological factors, such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or past trauma, can also play a significant role.

The most common male sexual dysfunctions include erectile dysfunction (difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection), premature or delayed ejaculation, reduced sexual desire, and difficulties achieving orgasm.

All men can experience erectile dysfunction at any age, there are many potential causes both physical and psychological. It becomes more common with age. It may result from underlying health issues such as diabetes or heart disease, or follow pelvic surgery.

These challenges can significantly impact self-esteem, confidence, relationships, and overall wellbeing.

Early recognition and intervention are essential. With the right support - through counselling, medical evaluation, lifestyle adjustments, or therapy - men can address underlying causes, break negative cycles, and regain sexual confidence.

Understanding the problem is the first step toward effective management and improved sexual health.

Let’s get you back to confidence, health, and sexual wellbeing.
