LORRAINE GROVER
I trained as a Registered General Nurse at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, in 1984 and later qualified as a sex therapist in 2003. Combining these two areas of expertise allows me to support patients in a holistic and compassionate way, using both medical treatments and practical techniques to address sexual health concerns.
I’m committed to helping patients and their partners feel informed and reassured. I developed a patient information package on erectile dysfunction, which was recognised with a Developing Practice Award from The Queen’s Nursing Institute. I have also contributed to advisory boards focused on improving therapies and care for those experiencing sexual difficulties.
To stay at the forefront of sexual health, I regularly attend international conferences and training. I am proud to serve as Trustee and Treasurer of the Sexual Advice Association, and as a Specialist Advisor to Macmillan Cancer Support and Prostate Cancer UK. I am also a member of the British and European Societies of Sexual Medicine (BSSM & ESSM) and the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists (COSRT).
I serve on the ESSM Advisory Board, representing the National Affiliated Societies, and I am proud to be the first nurse to hold this position.
I have particular experience supporting men affected by prostate cancer, addressing a wide range of sexual concerns, and I always consider the needs of their partners too, helping couples navigate these challenges together.
The International Movember Guidelines on ‘Sexual Healthcare for Prostate Cancer Patients’ outline the importance of having a baseline assessment and receiving ongoing support to help manage any changes that may occur. As a clinician specialising in sexual wellbeing and prostate cancer, I offer consultations to explore your individual situation and provide practical guidance on intimacy, confidence and connection whether at the time of diagnosis, in treatment or in recovery.

Check out what my patients say
I found our consultation most worthwhile and I am in no doubt that we touched on the ‘key’ elements of the problem.
Thanks for your very considerate help so far.
John and I are delighted with the results and can’t begin to thank you enough, we really should have seen you 10 years ago. I believe we said, John and I weren’t at all sure what to expect, but we are so pleased we took the decision to see you and overcame our pre judgments.
You have made me feel complete again.
After talking to you I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
This consultation has been an integral part of my care. It’s been as important as any of my consultations I’ve had so far about my prostate cancer.
